General Guidelines

Payment may be made via cash, check or credit card. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. An additional processing fee will apply to all credit cards. YoChef’s Catering Company does ask for a credit card to be kept on file to guarantee service regardless of the CLIENT’S chosen method of payment.

Food and Beverage Policies

All food and beverage, except for wedding and birthday cakes, must be provided through YoChef’s Catering Company. A cake-cutting fee may apply – we supply plasticware $1 per person, with china and silverware $2 per person – see event planner for details

An $80.00 or 20% service charge, whichever is greater, will be applied to all staffed events. 15% service charge is applied to Drop off service. Offsite catering is also subject to a fuel surcharge based upon the distance traveled (0-15 miles – no charge; 16-25 miles – $25.00; 26-50 miles – $50.00; 51+ miles – $100.00).

A 6% Michigan sales tax applies to all food and beverage orders. If CLIENT event is tax exempt, CLIENT must provide a current copy of the Michigan Sales Tax Exemption Certificate to the event coordinator before CLIENT’S event.

A $250 deposit or 50% (for parties under $500) catering deposit is due with CLIENT’S signed catering agreement. Final payment is due one week before the event with CLIENT’S guaranteed guest count. If a secured guest count is not received, YoChef’s Catering Company reserves the right to charge for the highest estimated guest count given. A guest count can increase up to 72 hours before the event, and we will make every effort to accommodate increases within 72 hours. Additional charges will apply.

The CLIENT must finalize menu selections with the event coordinator 14 days before the day of the CLIENT’S catering Grand Rapids MI event. YoChef’s Catering Company will do our best to accommodate any changes necessary after the deadline. However, these changes are not guaranteed. Chef Joseff VanHorn is happy to work with clients on custom menus – see event coordinators for specific ideas.

Buffet meals will be available for a maximum of two (2) hours to ensure food quality and presentation. Longer-serving times available for additional cost

YoChef’s Catering Company is not responsible for food quality or temperature due to delays of 30 minutes or more within the scheduled service start time.

Any remaining food and beverage may not be taken from venue due to health code regulations unless a release of liability form is signed and on file before the date of an event.

Cancellation

Cancellations made more than 90 days in advance of the event are eligible for a full refund of the deposit, except Saturday events. Cancellations made within 90 days of the event forfeit all money paid.

Saturday event cancellations forfeit all money paid, regardless of cancellation date.

CLIENT can transfer deposits to an alternate date should they need to change times. YoChef’s Catering Company treats Saturday date changes as new reservations, forfeiting all previous deposits.

Should cancellation be necessary on a catering order, the deposit will be forfeited or transferred to a future catering order. Additional charges may apply if CLIENT cancels within 14 days of the scheduled event.

Decorations

Please adhere to individual venues policies regarding decorations. We will assist CLIENT any way possible.

Insurance

The client will assume liability and financial responsibility for any damage to or loss of property belonging to the venue of choice and or YoChef’s Catering Company and for any personal injury incurred during or as a result of such use.
