Catering Policies & Procedures
Prices – Michigan 6% sales tax and service fees will apply to all food and beverage pricing. If your event is tax exempt, a current copy of the Michigan Sales Tax Exemption Certificate must be provided to your event coordinator prior to event. Dinner menu selections include china, glassware, & flatware. Linen services available. Pricing is guaranteed 60 days prior to the scheduled event date. Menu pricing is subject to change.
Contract – A formal contract will be provided for the catering services. The proposed menu and estimated costs will be included.
Guest Count – An estimated guest count will determine the estimated charges shown in the contract. A guaranteed guest count must be given to the event coordinator 2 weeks prior to the scheduled event date, with final payment, final menu, and linen order. It will be the responsibility of the client to contact YoChef’s Catering Company with the final guest count. If a guarantee is not received, the client will be served and charged for the highest estimated guest count. Food, beverage and place settings will be determined by the final guest count. Within 2 weeks of the event, the guest count may not decrease. The guest count may increase up to 72 hours of the event. If increases are necessary on the day of the event, the additional charges will be invoiced.
Payment – Payment may be made with cash, check or credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. A 4% processing fee will apply to credit card payments. The 4% processing fee will be waived when paying deposit or tasting fees.
Deposit – A $250 non-refundable deposit is due with the signed contract to save the date and guarantee service. It is the client’s responsibility to make sure the final payment is paid 14 days prior to the event date along with your guaranteed guest count, final menu and linen order. Credit card information must be provided with signed contract. The card will only be charged if payment is not made, unless otherwise requested. If final payment is not made 14 days prior to your event your credit card will be charged for your highest estimated guest count along with a 4% processing fee.
Service Fees – A 20% service charge will be applied to all staffed events, which allows for 5 hours of service. Time starts when your guest arrives. Additional hours will be billed at $100 per hour. Drop-off service will be charged a 15% service charge.
Gratuity – Our staff are paid a full hourly rate and do not rely on gratuity for their pay. Gratuity is then something that is always appreciated for a job well done but never expected. If you wish to pay gratuity, it may be paid as an additional lump sum on your invoice check or as cash. It will then be divided among all service and kitchen staff that worked towards all aspects of your event.
Menu Selections – Any changes to the proposed menu, included in contract, must be communicated to the event coordinator 14 days prior to the scheduled event date. Any changes made after this date are not guaranteed.
Food & Beverage Service – All food and beverage, except for wedding cake and alcohol/bar service must be provided through YoChef’s Catering Company. YoChef’s Catering Company will not be liable for the condition of food quality and presentation when serving time is delayed more than 30 minutes from contracted service time. Buffets will be open for a maximum of two hours, to ensure food quality and presentation. If the desired service time is longer than two hours YoChef’s cannot be responsible for the quality of the product and, additional charges may apply. Remaining food and beverage may not be taken off-site due to health code rules and regulations.
Additional Services – Cake cutting service fee will be provided $1.00 per person. This includes high quality disposable plate and fork as well as the staffing to cut and serve. Linen services are available and must be given to the event planner 2 weeks prior to your date. Linen ordered less then 2 weeks are subject to a $25 late fee by the linen company.
Decorations – Please adhere to individual venues policies regarding decorations. We will assist you any way possible.
Insurance – The client will assume liability and financial responsibility for any damage to or loss of property belonging to venue and or YoChef’s Catering Company and for any personal injury incurred during or as a result of such use.
